Help Me Become a First-Gen Lawyer & Serve My Community

I never imagined I’d be here, creating a GoFundMe. I’m a proud person who has always tried to carry my own weight. I’ve faced my share of challenges, and I’ve managed to shoulder them—but sometimes the weight is more than one person can carry alone. Today, I’m asking for help because this moment is bigger than my pride—it’s about breaking cycles that have held me and my family back for generations.

This fall, I will be starting law school. It’s an opportunity I’ve fought hard for—years of sacrifice, late nights, and relentless determination. I graduated college and am now a first-generation law student. I’ve worked multiple jobs to get to this point. My goal is to become an attorney who serves underrepresented communities and advocates for fairness and dignity for people who often have neither.

While I have secured a partial scholarship and planned carefully, the costs of moving, securing housing, and paying the fees that aren’t covered by financial aid have become an obstacle I can’t overcome alone. These expenses include moving truck rental, deposits, textbooks, and bar prep costs that start accruing early.

I’ve exhausted other options. This is my last resort. Asking publicly for help is humbling in a way I can’t fully describe, but I’m choosing to see it as an act of hope rather than shame.
