My name is Kunal Narayan Baidhya, and I’m an international student in Australia. I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in July 2024, during what was supposed to be a normal time in my student life. Since then, I’ve been through nearly 5 cycles of intensive chemotherapy, several bone marrow biopsies, and long stays in hospital — including time in the ICU. These photos show the reality of my fight: daily pain, oxygen support, Hickman line, and a body exhausted from treatment. Now, I am scheduled for a bone marrow transplant on July 16, 2025, which is my last and best hope to survive. After the transplant, I will need 6 to 12 months of recovery, during which I won’t be able to work or study. On top of this, my student visa is on hold, and I must submit a post-transplant medical report to avoid being sent home mid-recovery. I live with my mother, who came to Australia to take care of me, but we are financially broken. It’s incredibly hard to survive without support — every little donation will help me afford medical follow-ups, rent, food, and the chance to keep fighting for my life and my future. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading and supporting me.
