“Help me be my moms voice in Newfoundland”

Hi everyone,

My name is Tammy, and I’m reaching out to share a very personal and urgent story about my mom, Marie.

Back in 2024, my mother became very ill, and her health challenges led to her being admitted into a long-term care nursing home in Newfoundland. She has beginning stages of dementia. She has forgotten alot of people around her, but definitely not myself or husband.

Recently, I received some heartbreaking and deeply concerning news. Due to being prescribed the wrong medication for her deteriorating illness, my mom has completely shut down socially. Her vibrant spirit has been stifled, and she’s now unable to advocate for herself or fully engage with the world around her. This has gone on for far too long, and I know that she deserves so much more.

I live in Ontario and, unfortunately, do not have the financial means to travel to Newfoundland on short notice. However, I believe it’s critical for me to be there—to be her voice, her advocate, and her support. She needs someone who will ensure she’s receiving the care, attention, and proper treatment that every person deserves.

The funds I’m hoping to raise will cover the costs of my emergency trip to Newfoundland, including:

Travel expenses (gas, flights, etc.)

Hotel accommodations

Food during my stay

Any essentials my mom may need

Every single contribution, no matter the size, gets me one step closer to helping my mom regain her voice and her connection to the world. I am deeply grateful for your kindness and support during this difficult time.

PS she has know family to advocate on her behalf, she is just laying in bed alone like a zombie with no hope. I am trying to bring her hope and possibly bring her back to Ontario with me to take care of her or at least get her in a long term care closer to me.
