Help me be able to refill my RA medication
Donation protected
Hey, my name is Angel, I'm 23, and about a year ago, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
I've suffered chronic pain my whole life, and when I began to struggle very badly with it when I entered college, I was finally fed up with the lack of answers and doubled down on my fight for diagnosis and treatment.
It took months of battling the medical system, but I finally got a diagnosis and a prescription for the biologic Cimzia, an anti-TNF. I began seeing results; my legs lock up significantly less and the stiffness and pain of climbing and descending stairs has almost completely disappeared, my rashes and histamine flares are gone, I am able to draw and write more, I don't lose feeling in my limbs as often as I did before, and I'm just able to move more freely now. I still require the assistance of a cane or rollator to really get around, but I feel the effects.
Recently though, I have a charge on my medication that I cannot afford. I've applied to grants, funds, foundations, but all are waitlisted. I've asked my estranged father who makes significantly more money than my mother (and primary caretaker) for help, but despite his promise to help me with medical expenses, he has been radio silent, probably because he's upset with me.
I simply need to pay this charge and I'll be able to refill my medication.
I want to be able to go out into society mostly pain and arthritis-free. I'm tired of being stuck in bed in crippling pain on a near daily basis. Cimzia has given me a second chance at life, given me hope to be a normal and functioning adult. I hate feeling like a burden on my family.
This charge on my account is a one-time thing, and I need to clear it up to get my medicine. Donations will go strictly to paying this.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Goal is a little higher than how much I owe due to fees that might come up, as well as the cost of the complications of this mess, like getting a nurse visit so I don't miss a dose, and the cost of communicating with my rheumatologist online.
