I never thought and always feared I would have to write something like this, but I am asking for help because I am facing the reality of becoming homeless together with my two cats at the end of August.

After a long and difficult legal dispute with my landlord concerning the condition of the property and technical deficiencies that failed to meet basic living standards, I have lost the initial court case. The current judgment requires me to leave the property by 30 August 2026.

I have also received formal notice from my landlord's legal service confirming that, if I do not leave by the deadline, enforcement of the removal will be initiated. This means that I, my cats, and everything I own will ultimately be removed from the property and put out on the street.

On top of losing my home, I have been ordered to pay approximately €10,000 to my landlord. I simply do not have that money.

My financial situation was already extremely difficult before this happened. I have been living on financial support for some time and have accumulated debt, while trying to get my life back on its feet. My current income is nowhere near enough to absorb a €10,000 legal debt while also finding and securing a new home, paying moving costs, and covering basic living expenses.

I am also facing another difficult decision. My current lawyers have informed me that they will no longer represent me. If I want to appeal the judgment, I will therefore have to find new legal representation myself and somehow cover the associated costs.

But right now, my most urgent priority is much more basic:

I need somewhere safe and affordable to live, and I need to make sure my cats stay with me.

The deadline of 30 August 2026 is rapidly approaching, and finding suitable housing in Leuven that I can actually afford is an enormous challenge given my financial situation. I am therefore asking for help to give me a realistic chance of getting through this without ending up on the street or worse.

The money raised through this fundraiser will help me deal with the immediate consequences of this situation:

Asking people I know as well as strangers for money is a huge thing to do. I have never been comfortable asking for this kind of help. But I have reached a point where I cannot solve this situation on my own, and the deadline means that I cannot simply wait and hope things somehow work themselves out.

I am not asking anyone to fix my life for me. I am asking for a chance to get through this crisis without losing my home, my cats, and whatever stability I still have.
