My path to leadership has been shaped by failure, pain, and the kind of lessons that only come from pushing through barriers that were never designed for me. As an immigrant who grew up in the United States, I’ve lived at the intersection of cultures, expectations, and identities. That experience gave me a unique lens — one that allows me to understand and speak for communities across this nation who often feel unseen or unheard. Growing up, I learned early that opportunity isn’t always given. Sometimes you have to build it. Sometimes you have to fight for it. And sometimes you have to become it. Through every setback, I found a deeper sense of purpose. Through every challenge, I discovered a clearer vision: to help build a better, more sustainable future for others. A future where communities aren’t isolated from one another but connected, empowered, and united. I overcame my own barriers by joining forces with others — by building strong alliances, by listening, by showing up, and by working alongside people who believe in a more inclusive and equitable democracy. Those relationships, those shared struggles, and those collective victories are what shaped me into the leader I am becoming. That is why the LBJ Women’s Campaign School means so much to me. It represents the next step in a journey that began long before I ever imagined myself in spaces like this. It’s an opportunity to sharpen my skills, expand my network, and bring back tools that will help strengthen the communities I serve — especially those who have been historically overlooked. This isn’t just about me. It’s about us. It’s about building bridges, amplifying voices, and creating pathways for the next generation of leaders who look like me, live like me, and dream like me. I’m inviting my village to help me get there. While the program covers a portion of the cost, I am responsible for several remaining expenses.
