Help Michelle Attend SEEK 2025 in Salt Lake City

Hi! My name is Michelle Cordova and I am a freshman studying at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. The Newman Center here on campus has played such a crucial role in my faith-life, as it has allowed me to understand the Catholic faith even more, bringing my relationship with Christ to a whole other level.

Being a cradle-Catholic, I found myself simply ‘going through the motions’ of the Catholic faith, without fully understanding it. It wasn't until about a year ago, that I fell to a stump. God met me in my mess and now, a whole year into my re-conversion with the faith, I can proudly say that nothing has ever fulfilled me the way Jesus Christ has. Pursuing an intentional relationship with God has completely transformed me and I have never been so happy living for Jesus.

Here at UIUC, I’ve had the awesome privilege of meeting with our FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) missionaries, who have all helped me reflect on my life in a much deeper way than I ever have. The missionaries have invited me to attend a conference called SEEK in Salt Lake City the first week of January.

At this five-day conference, nearly 20,000 college students and adults will gather to experience Christ through the Catholic faith. Not only that, but we’ll also learn how to share our faith with others. As someone who has experienced first-hand how God can transform our hearts, there is nothing I’d love more than to deepen my connection with the Catholic Church at SEEK.

To take this next big step in my faith life, I have to fundraise in order to attend. Many of us who are going cannot come up with the money on our own, which is why I am asking for your support. Your generosity is much needed and any sort of help that you guys can provide is much appreciated. While we’re at SEEK, we’d love to pray for you! So please send us your prayer intentions as well.

Siendo criada católica, me encontré simplemente "haciendo lo que me dicta la fe católica", sin entenderla por completo. No fue hasta hace aproximadamente un año, que me quedé estancada. Dios me encontró en mi caos y ahora, un año entero después de mi reconversión a la fe, puedo decir con orgullo que nada me ha llenado como lo ha hecho Jesucristo. Buscar una relación intencional con Dios me ha transformado por completo y nunca he sido tan feliz viviendo para Jesús.

Aquí en UIUC, he tenido el increíble privilegio de reunirme con nuestros misioneros de FOCUS (Comunidad de estudiantes universitarios católicos), quienes me han ayudado a reflexionar sobre mi vida de una manera mucho más profunda. Los misioneros me han invitado a asistir a una conferencia llamada SEEK en Salt Lake City la primera semana de enero.

En esta conferencia de cinco días, casi 20,000 estudiantes universitarios y adultos se reunirán para experimentar a Cristo a través de la fe católica. No solo eso, sino que también aprenderemos a compartir nuestra fe con los demás. Como alguien que ha experimentado de primera mano cómo Dios puede transformar nuestros corazones, no hay nada que me gustaría más que profundizar mi conexión con la Iglesia Católica en SEEK.

Para dar este próximo gran paso en mi vida de fe, tengo que recaudar fondos de $650 para asistir. Muchos de los que vamos no podemos reunir el dinero por nuestra cuenta, por eso estoy pidiendo su apoyo. Su generosidad es muy necesaria y cualquier tipo de ayuda que puedan brindar es muy apreciada.
