Hi, my name is Sophia. I am a student in the Houston area, and I am raising funds to help make an extraordinary academic opportunity possible this summer.

A few years ago, I moved to the United States with my family as we followed my father’s journey, and I had to start over in a completely new school system, a new language, and a new environment. Through hard work, faith, and dedication, I adapted quickly, became fluent in English and Spanish, supported other students through tutoring and academic help, and grew into leadership roles in academics and debate.

This summer, I was accepted into one of the most prestigious pre-college programs, the Harvard Pre-College Program, where I will study topics at the intersection of Law and Artificial Intelligence, an area I am deeply passionate about. In the past, I have conducted research on laws, property, and monopolies, and that experience sparked my interest in how AI regulation can be designed to protect individuals while still allowing innovation to thrive. Since I was very young, I have been fascinated by law, geopolitics, and the impact of technology on society. My dream is to one day help make the law more accessible and promote the use of AI in ethical and socially meaningful ways.

This opportunity means so much to me, not only for my own future, but also because I hope to bring what I learn back to my school community by creating a student association focused on developing practical materials about the use of Artificial Intelligence in the school environment and for small businesses.

Although I was accepted, financial aid was no longer available at the time of my admission. After making sacrifices as a family, we were able to reduce the remaining amount needed to $4,000 to help cover program costs such as tuition, housing, meals, travel, and course materials. The program itself can cost up to $6,100, in addition to travel expenses, so any contribution that helps ease this burden and makes this opportunity possible would mean so much.
