hi , my name is kota, i’ve never made something like this before so bare with me. i live with the love of my life, my absolute soulmate kyra. we are both nineteen. we have been trying to move out for quite a while now, pretty much since i first moved in here a year ago. we don’t have any other family and no friends where we live. her mother is abusive, threatens kyra’s life as well as her own (manipulation), screams at her, hits her, and more stuff that i probably can’t share here. her dad died just 3 years ago when she turned 16, and she started working a week later and has worked so hard ever since. her mom makes her pay 700 a month in rent for just our one tiny bedroom. she now says we owe her 1,760 dollars and we’re now paying an extra 580 a month on top of that, so rent is now 1.3k a month. we have to keep all the cats, one of which isn’t even ours but her mother makes her take care of, in the tiny room as well, they aren’t allowed out. sadly on tuesday (1/6/26) we have to put down her childhood cat of 16 years. her mother doesn’t want her to leave as kyra has always done all the chores, taken care of all the animals, and done everything her mother asks. she keeps trying to push it back. kyra has even asked her mother if she could just stop paying rent for just a month or two with the promise to move out and her mother said no not until the summer and then pushed it even further back. we pay for our own groceries, phone bills, everything for the cats, all of our own furniture clothes everything. her family even uses the streaming services they don’t pay for, which we recently had to cancel all of them due to financial issues. our car payment is really expensive (550 a month for a 2016 camry with 212 insurance). it also has a lot of issues and needs new front tires which we can’t afford either. we wanted an entirely different car, but kyra’s mom made her get our current car instead. with the car payment and rent together it is 2k a month without all the other expenses, including medicine, cat food and litter, hygiene products, my appointments which are every 3 months and over 200 dollars each time, groceries (which we have to keep in the room), etc. we buy EVERYTHING ourselves. not a single thing in our room was provided by her mother. her mother has had multiple live in boyfriends who don’t pay rent at all and yells at kyra about anything her and i do that makes said boyfriends mad, which is usually things like just leaving a box out on the counter. they recently had cameras installed in the living room, ifykyk. i also don’t have any kind of insurance. i really just want us to have our own space, just to be able to get out. i have always said and continue to say that i don’t care if we have to scrape by for a while as long as we can get our own space where we can live and not just survive. we are barely scraping by right now in a place we are miserable in. it’s been this way for years. please consider donating to help. even a dollar. we are so grateful for any kindness. thank you.
