My name is Nick Scielso and I am a retired Navy Seabee vet. People who know me would describe me as a dedicated, hard-working, family man whose smile could fill any room. As a husband, father, and grandfather, I pride myself in being able to provide for my family.
As such, I have been self-employed for thirty-years. Before the age of Door Dash and Uber Eats, employees often had limited options for breakfast, coffee, and lunch while at work. In order to meet their needs, I started Nick’s Catering, which provided food along various routes. This required early morning wake-ups, often around 3 or 4 a.m., pulling me away from my family far more than I would have liked, seven days a week. Nonetheless, I aspired to work hard each day.
About two years ago I lost vision in one of my eyes, which impacted my ability to work. That, paired with Covid forcing people into a remote work environment, made it nearly impossible to keep my business afloat. Since then, my wife became sick to the point she requires around the clock care, making it difficult to seek additional employment opportunities. Within the course of two years, everything I worked so hard for started to fall apart. While I still have my family and all the love that comes with it, we are in danger of losing our house. We are behind on bills and have not been able to catch up. I am somebody who prefers to help others and do so whenever I can. While difficult, I am asking for support. If you are able to contribute in any way, I will be forever grateful. Please keep my family close to your heart during this difficult time.
