I am currently facing a major financial barrier that is putting my college education at risk. I was accepted into Clark Atlanta University, a place that represents a fresh start, healing, and an opportunity to grow beyond the environment I come from. However, even after financial aid, I am still left with a tuition balance that I cannot afford. I come from a single-parent household, and my mom works two jobs just to keep us afloat, so covering that remaining cost is simply not possible for us.
I have done everything I can on my end, applying for scholarships, telling my story, emailing higher ups, but I still need support, because I have not been given it. I currently have a 2.98 GPA, just 0.2 points away from a 3.0, which would qualify me for a merit scholarship if I earn straight A’s in my final quarter, but that's not even promised if the school has no more scholarship opportunities left. I am pushing hard to make that happen, but time is limited and my financial situation is urgent. That is why I am starting a GoFundMe. I am willing to do anything to get an education at my dream school.
This is not just about paying for school, it is about finally having a chance to leave behind an environment filled with loss and struggle, and step into a life of growth, purpose, and opportunity. I am asking for help so I can continue pushing forward, not just for myself, but to inspire others who come from situations like mine and need proof that something better is possible.
