Help Me Afford Critical Medications for Recovery

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

For those who don’t know — or maybe don’t know me that well — I was hospitalized after visiting the ER on Monday, December 8. Tests showed I was in far worse shape than I knew. I received critical care and was then admitted. I presented as a sepsis patient, which is incredibly scary.

Tests later turned positive for two active infections: cryptosporidium and CMV. Both are usually harmless in healthy people, but my kidney transplant makes them dangerous.

I just got home from my five day, four night stay at CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. I am home, but not out of the woods. Recovery will take many weeks, lots of follow up, and very expensive medicines. And then will come the hospital and specialist bills.

The most immediate and urgent need I have is picking up a two-week course of nitazoxanide. Its generic form is $1,700 for just 28 tablets.

I’ll also be on valganciclovir for some time, but this one’s a bit less expensive (though still far from cheap).

Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated during this time, as treatment involves a reduction in immunosuppression, which increases rejection risk.

If you would like to help and can do so, I would be so grateful to have you along with me.
