Ty Lindeman's Olympic Dream in Paris 2024!

Dear kind-hearted supporters,

I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for assistance in realizing my dream of representing Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With your support, I hope to cover the costs necessary to compete in 15-20 tournaments this year, which can amount to around $1,500 per tournament. In the last year and a half leading up to the Olympic qualification period, I have competed in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world like the Commonwealth Games, Sudirman Cup, and Indonesia Open. Throughout this time I have also been crowned as the National and Pan-American Champion, and achieved a world ranking of 31 in mixed doubles and 41 in men’s doubles. However, I face financial challenges as I am responsible for funding my own tournament and travel expenses.

My Journey:

My love for badminton began at a young age, and throughout my life I have relentlessly pursued both athletic and academic aspirations. While studying at university, I continued to train and compete, trying to balance my passion for badminton with my academic responsibilities. After graduating with a Masters of Engineering in 2021, I dedicated myself completely to training and improving enough to compete at an Olympic level.

The Challenge:

One of the biggest hurdles I face on my road to Paris is the financial burden of pursuing badminton at a high level. Unlike many other sports, where athletes receive significant support and funding, I have to finance my own training, travel, and tournament fees. The flights to and from tournaments can be upwards of $1,000 and each tournament requires a week of food and accommodation expenses. This financial strain hinders my ability to focus entirely on my performance and development.

To achieve this, I have to compete in a series of tournaments throughout the next year to accumulate the necessary ranking points for Olympic qualification.
