Help Me Achieve My Master's in Experimental Physics

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Zach Meredith, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Experimental Physics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. This journey has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I have always been passionate about understanding the fundamental laws of nature, and this program is allowing me to delve deeper into the fascinating world of physics.

However, I am facing significant financial challenges that are threatening my ability to complete my degree. The university has continually delayed the renewal of my work permit, not allowing me to financially support myself. Despite receiving a fellowship for a research project and budgeting carefully, the costs of tuition and living expenses are overwhelming. I am reaching out to you, my friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, to ask for your support.

Why This Degree Matters
Experimental physics is at the heart of technological advancements that shape our world. From developing new medical imaging techniques to improving renewable energy technologies, experimental physicists play a crucial role. My current direction is detector research in high energy physics.
With your help, I can contribute to this exciting field and make a positive impact in my own research.

My Journey So Far
I have always been dedicated to my studies and have worked hard to get to where I am today. This attitude of never giving up payed off by being fortunate enough to get accepted to a master’s program outside of the US. I was then accepted to a summer program at the world’s largest particle accelerator (CERN). This was not only a life goal of mine, but it also jump started my thesis and helped me understand what direction I wanted to go in life. I then started working on my thesis, which is developing an affordable table-top muon tomography scanner.
In tandem with studying, I started two university positions. The first position is a lab employee at Lili’s Proto Lab, a prototyping lab, and the second as a video editor at the communications department. As the second year of my degree began, the university complicated this matter by not renewing my work permit in time. As a method to combat the lack of funds, I reached out to professors and began a secondary research project funded by a fellowship.
This research project has a main objective of developing the design of an open sourced MRI that can be manufactured with 3D printers. The research project, as interesting as it may seem, is only a short term financial buffer. The current battle is to continue working on my thesis and the MRI project all while trying to find financial stability in order to stay at the school.

How Your Support Will Help
Your generous donations will go directly towards:
- Tuition Fees: Ensuring I can continue my studies without interruption.
- Living Expenses: Covering rent, utilities, and other essentials while I focus on my studies.

A Personal Thank You
I deeply appreciate any support you can offer. No amount is too small, and every bit helps. As a token of my gratitude, I will keep all my donors updated on my progress and achievements. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and giving back to the community that supports me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering my request. With your help, I can overcome these financial hurdles and complete my master's degree in experimental physics.

Warm regards,

Zach Meredith
