Hello there, my name is Carly and I’m asking for help to fund my endometriosis excision: a surgery that could finally give me answers, relief, and the chance at a healthier future.
For most of my life, I’ve lived in a body that didn’t function the way it should. I learned early on how to push through discomfort, quietly adjust my life around it, and tell myself that what I was experiencing was something I just had to live with. Over time, those struggles became harder to ignore and more disruptive, eventually leading me to seek specialized care and real answers.
I have since met with a phenomenal endometriosis specialist, an important and necessary step, but one that came at a significant financial cost. Seeing a true specialist is often the only way patients receive accurate care for this disease, and unfortunately, these providers are rarely affordable or accessible through insurance.
Endometriosis is a chronic, progressive condition that affects far more than day-to-day comfort. It can impact energy, work, relationships, and long-term health, including fertility. If I hope to start a family in the future, early and proper treatment is critical. Delaying care can allow the disease to progress, leading to more complex, more costly, and more irreversible complications down the line.
After months of advocating for myself, appealing, and navigating the insurance system, I’ve now learned that my surgery will not be covered. While devastating, this is a reality many endometriosis patients face: excision surgery performed by a trained specialist is often deemed out of network or not covered at all, despite being medically necessary.
The total cost for preparing and having this surgery is $25,000. And even as I am currently writing this out, it seems incredibly intimidating.
