Help Me 2 Dream

My name is Carla J. Diaz Figueroa, a 16-years-old young dreamer with many goals and dreams to fulfilling.  One of my greatest dreams since my childhood is studying Medicine with special interest in cardiothoracic surgery and research.  As a medical doctor I think that I can contribute a lot to society.  I feel that saving lives and helping people is my vocation and my purpose for life on this planet.  Life is only one and deserves our special attention to preserve and live it with health and quality.

In January of this year I received a great news, one of my dreams.  I received an invitation to represent my school, Four Corners High School in Florida, at the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) of Medicine, which is administered by Envision Program and sponsored by George Mason University, ranked as one of the "Top Schools to Watch"  by U.S. News & World Report and as one of the "Top 100 Best Values" in higher education by Kiplinger's Personal Finance and Forbes.  Also, recently is ranked among the highest research institutions in the country by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, joining an elite group of institutions, including Harvard University, Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley.  This Forum will be held this summer 2019 in different cities of the United States.  I have the opportunity to select the university and the session date that I want to attend.  Until now, I have selected to attend the University of Maryland in Washington, DC from July 25 - August 2, 2019.

Among the numerous benefits of attending NYLF of Medicine are:  enhancing my academic profile and leadership skills, visit and practice in medical training simulation centers, gain hands-on experience in a variety of medical procedure using the latest technology with guidance from experts, visit local medical school to share experiences with medical students and staff, watch a real-life medical operation video and have a physician talk to me through the procedure and answer my questions in real time, practice medical techniques during a workshop simulation titled "When Care is Hours Away", learn all about the medical school application process, explore the many career options available and identify strategies, academic pathways and career skills I need to be successful in the medical and allied health fields, discover and begin applying communication, conflict resolution, critical resolution, critical thinking and decision-making skills that will help me become a strong, motivated leader both in school and future career.  Also, I will have the opportunity of receive two college credits from George Mason University.  On the other hand, I will also have the opportunity to visit the city of Washington, DC, as an extension to the program.

The funds will be used as follows:

$3,495 (Full Payment) or $3,614 (Payment Plan) - Tuition - Includes all curriculum and instruction, program activities, site visits and events, overnight housing, program materials, at least two meals a day, a Certificate of Completion, and local transportation during the program.
*Transportation to and from home and the program location is NOT included in tuition.

$1,195 -  City Adventures: Washington, DC (August 2-5, 2019) - Includes visit a professional site relevant to medicine field, explore a renowned college campus, sample the local culture and see some of DC's famous memorials and museums.

$200 - Two College Credits from George Mason University

$139 - Tuition & Travel Protection Plan - This cover delayed or canceled flights, lost or delayed baggage, illness or injury throughout the program, including traveling to and from it, and much more.

$25 - Souvenir Program Photo  - Professional group photo of my program session.

$70 - Shuttle Transportation - Includes transportation from airport to the program location (first day) and from program location to the airport (last day).

$200 - Estimated Roundtrip Air Ticket from Orlando, FL to Washington, DC

$300 - Estimated Extra Money - For meals not covered by the tuition, snacks, souvenirs, and other incidentals.

The deadline to enroll in this program is March 1, 2019.  I have two payment alternatives, make a full payment or choose a payment plan by 6 months.  For the payment plan I will need at least $499 for March 1 for the initial deposit.

Very respectfully, I request your support and cooperation.  I will appreciate all the help you can give me.  Any help is welcome.  This experience will represent a significant step in my life to achieve my great dream of being a doctor of medicine.  I trust in God and your help, I will be able to do it.  Help Me 2 Dream!
