Help MDA with our vet bills!

Who is Muscat Dog Adoption?

- Muscat Dog Adoption (MDA) is a dog rescue organization, established in 2012, run by a group of dog loving volunteers in Muscat, Oman. MDA's aim is to rescue abandoned, injured and distressed dogs in Muscat. Once in MDA's care, the rescued dogs receive necessary veterinary treatment such as vaccinations against diseases, neutering/spaying, worm and flea treatment and any other treatment that may be required. The rescued dogs are then taken to MDA's makeshift pound where they are placed alone or with another dog in a large safe kennel space. There is a superb kennel hand who feeds the dogs twice a day and keeps the kennels spotlessly clean. The dedicated volunteers visit the pound in their free time to walk and socialise the dogs, teach them basic commands and monitor their health and behaviour. This helps us to assess the dogs' personalities and determine what kind of home would be best suited for them. Some of our dogs are lucky to go into foster care which is great for them to have more one to one attention, be house trained and have regular walks in a variety of environments.

The difficulty of dog rescue in Oman:

- Oman has no animal welfare laws yet and as a consequence there is no government funding for charities or shelters. It is therefore very challenging rescuing dogs with limited resources.

Why we need your help:

This year has been difficult for everyone around the world. It has affected us in many ways;

• We have not been able to hold any of our usual fundraising events such as quiz nights and car boot sales.

• We have not been able to get many of our dogs on flights and some have been waiting to travel since March.

• As well as our usual pound costs, we have had to put some dogs in boarding due to fosterers leaving the country.

• We have 21 dogs currently at the pound who go through lots of food in a week!

• Despite all of the above, we have continued to rescue, neuter and take in as many dogs as we physically can. This year we have rescued 65 dogs, many of whom were puppies, and all have needed vaccinating and neutering.

• Some of the above dogs have required other treatment; Mila, Tata & Mollie were all found with bullets lodged in their shoulders so required operations to remove the bullet and fragments.

• Domino, Freddy & Mila were all rescued with leg injuries. Freddy has had to have two operations to repair his little leg.

So, with 65 new dogs, as well as our current dogs, we’ve been stretched rather thinthis year! We’d be so incredibly grateful for any donation towards our vets bills. Our current bill at Muscat Vet is 803 OMR.We also have bills at Al Qurum Veterinary clinics in both MQ and Azaiba branches.  So any amount would be gratefully appreciated

Thank you so much for your support ❤️❤️
