Who is Muscat Dog Adoption?
- Muscat Dog Adoption (MDA) is a dog rescue organisation established in 2012 and run by a group of dog-loving volunteers in Muscat, Oman. We aim to rescue abandoned, injured and distressed dogs in Muscat and then rehome them in Oman or abroad.
- Most of our dogs are kept in boarding at SPK9. We also have some dogs in boarding with Maria and very few in foster homes. Once in our care, the rescued dogs receive any necessary veterinary treatment such as vaccinations against diseases, neutering/spaying, worm and flea treatment and any other treatment that may be required for illnesses or injuries.
The difficulty of dog rescue in Oman:
- Although Oman now has a registered charity (Oman Animal Welfare Association), it is in the early stages of being setup and there are still no shelters to house the rescued dogs. It is, therefore, very challenging to rescue dogs with limited resources (space and money).
Why we need your help:
- We are always in debt at the vets, and we owe one of our team members around 2500 OMR for covering the shortfalls of all the travel expenses for the dogs who we sent abroad since 2021).
