On Monday, August 4th, my niece, McKenna Walters, was involved in a serious car accident just outside of Quincy, WA. She was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wa where she remains in the ICU in serious condition. Among her many injuries, the most severe include a significant liver laceration, a moderate splenic laceration, and multiple fractures in her ankle. She has already undergone surgery to begin repairing her ankle, but her liver continues to bleed and remains a major concern.

This is the kind of crisis no family ever expects or is prepared for, and we are incredibly thankful that McKenna is still with us. Her mom, Alicia, has put everything on hold—including work—to be by her side every step of the way. McKenna faces a long and uncertain road to recovery, and she will require continuous care in the coming weeks and months.
