Help McCutcheon Soph., Ana Andrade

McCutcheon Freshman, Ana Andrade, was woken up Saturday morning at 3am by a gunshot to her leg. Ana was asleep at her own home when a neighbor fired his powerful rifle that went through three apartments before going through her closet and hitting her leg.

Initially doctors told Ana that she would have to have her leg amputated. Moments before the surgery; a miracle occurred. Surgeons and doctors still do not have an explanation, but they realized that Ana no longer need to have her leg amputated.  Ana has had three surgeries as of now, and will be needing many surgeries to come.

Ana has always excelled in the classroom and has dreams of becoming a lawyer. As her teacher, I have seen her excel in the classroom and always help others and put others before herself.

Along with medical expenses, the family is taking time off work to be their daughter and staying in Indianapolis to be at the side of their daughter. The family is also looking for a new home and to move immediately to another location, because of the circumstances that led to this event.

Looking for a new home, travel expenses, medical bills, and time off work can take a toll on the family. We all wish Ana a quick recovery and do not want to have the family to have to deal with the financial burden as well.

Please help the Andrade family by passing on this message.
