HELP MCCORMICK IN HIS LAST SEASON OF LIFE
If you live in Andersonville/Edgewater, you know McCormick, the unofficial Mayor of Andersonville. For 11years he's brought joy to everyone he meets. With his wild & wooly coat, amber eyes his deep, loving, attentive gaze, you can't help instantly falling in love & connecting with our sweet boy. He loves everyone and every dog. Always happy and vibrant even as he's aged into his senior years, he's still spry as heck! Until recently...
Two months ago he developed a cough which we'd thought was a cold or kennel cough. Sadly, an X-Ray showed a large mass in his lungs. There's been exams, tests, X-Rays, CT Scans, etc.
We'd hoped that surgery would give him more years of his wonderful, life and us more time to enjoy this goofy, loving, insanely beautiful soul. Sadly, the scans revealed that the cancer has spread and removing the mass won't give him enough meaningful time with us and his many admirers to put him through major surgery.
We've greatly reduced the fundraising goal as the surgery and aftercare was the largest amount of the cost of his care. Our focus now is him being as comfortable and happy as possible and helping him transition peacefully when that sad time comes.
His family is devastated and it pains us to share this awful news with his many admirers . The oncologist thinks it could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months and although he may surprise us (classic McCormick!!) that could just be the kind of magical thinking this sweet Irish gentleman from the south inspires.
We've connected with some wonderful hospice and rainbow bridge stewards to give him the most loving and gentle final chapter possible.
Your support in this heartbreaking development means the world to us.
xo McCormick, Cassandra, Shélan & Xenia
