When a good Samaritan posted about Ginger on Sunday, they knew she needed help. The cat was soaking wet in a creek by the finder’s home. Photos showed her desperation: severe matting, an apparent upper respiratory infection, and barely able to walk.
Upon seeing the post, an MC C3 volunteer acted. With a towel and a cat carrier, she went to the scene and spotted the cat immobile in the creek, which was as much as a foot deep. She jumped in and grabbed the cat in a towel, as it was apparent the cat's life was in danger.
The volunteer spent most of Sunday with Ginger at Bennett Creek Animal Emergency Center, where they worked to save Ginger's life, utilizing funding from MC C3.
Ginger's nails were overgrown, she badly needed grooming and flea treatment, and her skin was scratched from thorns. She had such severe matted fur she had to go under anesthesia to shave it off, and in various areas it still nicked her skin. She has almost no teeth. Her ears were crusty and dirty. She came in with such severe dehydration her eyes were recessed. She is blind. Ginger is on antibiotics and will need follow-up exams and care.
Ginger is currently in a foster home getting the attention she needs. She has mobility issues, and must be fed and given water by hand. However, her resilience is fierce. She purrs. She loves affection and to be petted. She is fighting to recover and enjoy life.
Without your support, cats like Ginger in emergency situations cannot receive the critical vet care they need. Can you help MC C3 give them a second chance?
