Help Maysa Recover from Devastating Flood Damage
In the early morning hours of July 5th, a sudden and severe flash flood turned the typically dry creek behind Maysa’s home into a raging river, rising over 25 feet and flooding her property. Thankfully, Maysa was staying with family that night and is safe — but her home and land have suffered extensive damage.
Two of her outdoor structures were completely swept away. Her deck is barely standing, and massive debris now covers her entire one-acre property. Devastatingly, her up-creek neighbor — who had been using their land as an illegal dump — had immense piles of trash wash downstream. The flood broke through Maysa’s perimeter fence, scattering mangled debris throughout her yard, wrapping it around trees, damaging her home’s siding, and slamming into the structure itself.
The floodwaters also took down over 30+ trees, compromised her septic system, washed out her interior access road (which is crucial for propane service), and heavily damaged her landscaping.
This flood has devastated her community — two of her neighbors lost their homes, and four others tragically lost their lives. While Maysa is deeply grateful to be safe, her path to recovery is long, costly, and made even harder by the fact that none of the damage is covered by insurance.
Adding to the urgency: Maysa’s home was recently listed for sale and had been in pristine condition. Now, in order to restore it to a sellable state — and allow her to move forward with the next chapter of her life — she needs support from friends, family, and anyone moved by her story.
Every dollar will go toward cleanup, repairs, and restoring basic access and safety to her property. The situation is overwhelming, but together, we can help Maysa rebuild and move forward.
If you know Maysa, you know she’s one of the most genuine, positive, open-hearted, and hilarious people around. Now it’s our turn to show up for her — let’s return the love and remind her just how much she means to us.
Thank you for any support you can give — whether it’s a donation, a share, or words of encouragement.
