Hello, my name is Stacy. I’m Maynard David's niece. On January 22, 2026, Maynard was life-flighted to Columbia University because he had suffered a major stroke. He was moved to Rusk Rehabilitation Center on Jan. 26th, where he is currently trying to learn to walk, talk, and use his right arm again.
Currently, Maynard requires care around the clock and is unable to work. He will be released from Rusk on Feb. 19th due to no medical insurance. We are in the process of signing him up for Medicaid and disability, but that takes time. Maynard has always worked to support himself. His health took a downhill spiral several months ago, making it hard to return to work. He has used all his savings.
We are asking if anyone can help him with covering the cost of his household expenses and to cover the cost of medical supplies he will need. We appreciate anything anyone can do to help, even if it is just sharing our GoFundMe. I am just trying to take some of the burden off Maynard and his stepmom, Peggy. Peggy has done so much already by helping care for him the last few years.
