Help Maya live and heal

My name is Chris Hubbard, I am fund raising for my dog Maya, and her medical expenses.

A little background, I have had on going serious medical issues for the last couple of years. Last year I ended up off work for 7 months on unemployment. As EI is only a portion of your actual pay cheque it did not take long for what small savings I had to disappear. It turned into one of the worst winters of my life emotionally and financially, almost lost my home but managed with help to stay afloat and return to work.

That brings me to today, Maya is my baby girl she is a 12-year-old schipperke/chihuahua. I found her picture on a Facebook rescues page 11 years ago, when I saw her face, I knew that she and I were meant to be, and we have been together ever since.

Maya collapsed on our walk after work the other night, I ended up rushing her down to the Central pet hospital. It turns out that she had a high fever, in a lot of pain as you can imagine her mouth very infected as she has teeth that now need to be removed. Maya means everything to me, she has been my emotional support animal, always being there by my side through covid and ongoing health issues. Now I need to be there for her, and I can't because I have no funds to help her. I am already $311 dollars in debt from the hospital visit. I need to take her the vet to get her properly assessed and a plan worked out for her medical care. I was told that I am looking at a lot of money between 3000 and 5000 dollars.

Even though I am working life has gotten so expensive it has been tough to save any amount of money to put aside.

I am hoping that this fund raiser will help with this expense as the other option is not one, I even want to think about at this time.
