Hi Family & Friends!
Maya was accepted into the Emerson Pre-College summer program in "Politics, Activism, and Leadership" and I am raising money to help cover the cost of her summer tuition.
Maya really dug in to her passion and purpose during this pandemic- in all things she strives to make a difference. She ran and got a seat on her school's student council, she is an active participant in her school's Behavioral Health Club, she is in UNIDAS- a crew of youth leaders focused on improving their own and other women's conditions in South Tucson, she is an advocate for comprehensive and inclusive sex ed. and other social justice issues, she has a part-time job, and has a 3.8 GPA. Most importantly, she loves and contributes to the wellness of our family.
Maya is entering her senior year and has dreams of attending Emerson for college in 2022. This is an opportunity for her to make connections at the school. In her admissions essay she wrote,
"I hope to gain skills that will improve my political analysis, sharpen my listening for social change, and help me become a more confident leader so that I can be of service to my community. I am passionate about social justice and have grown up in social movement spaces. I want to be able to step up and use my voice and situated experiences in a way that makes an impact."
Will you help us get her there?
The initial deposit is due 5/14 any little bit helps and every cent raised will go directly to the cost of tuition! If you can't help monetarily send good vibes her way!
