I’m Courtney and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend May, who everyone knows as a ray of sunshine. She is going through an incredibly difficult time right now and could really use some extra support financially.

May was recently scheduled to have surgery for a hysterectomy to remove her endometriosis — a long overdue procedure meant to relieve severe chronic pain and potentially end her seizures. Unfortunately, the surgery was canceled at the last minute due to a recent increase in her seizures and concerns related to the anesthesia. Since then, both the seizures and pain have only worsened, and without a clear treatment plan, May is stuck in a painful and uncertain holding pattern.

To make matters worse, their neurologist canceled their follow-up appointment, so rescheduling the surgery is currently on hold with no clear timeline.

May has filed for disability, but as many of us know, that process is long and slow. In the meantime, they’re unable to work or legally drive, thus leaving her in a situation without income.

This fundraiser is to help May cover her and her little family's basic living expenses like rent, bills, and essentials while she is unable to work, waiting on medical care and the disability processing. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping maintain her livelihood.
