Hey everybody,
I really hoped I'd never have to be at this crossroads again, but here we are. My Max had yet another spine injury and once again ruptured a disk. He is in desperate need of having emergency spinal surgery ASAP. And I simply cannot afford it at this time.
Max’s Story-
My baby Max, was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a painful and debilitating condition that left him unable to walk when he was two years old. The injury caused his back legs to be paralyzed. We proceeded with surgery knowing he may never walk again on all 4s again. Max is a fighter though. And after an extensive surgery, months of physical therapy, medication and love he was lucky enough to regain all mobility. My spunky, joyful, loving baby who’s so full of life went pain free for the next two years.
Then, we once again 2y later we’re left in the ER when the IVDD reappeared. We decided to proceed with surgery and It was a success!
Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago I noticed Max was not his normal self. I knew something was wrong and took him to the ER. I was told what I had been fearing, he had ruptured yet another disc. He was kept in urgent care for a few days where they treated him for his severe pain. I had to make the decision to take him out of the hospital and bring him home. The ER visit has already cost me over $3,000 and I simply could not afford to keep him there longer.
We had a week at home that looked promising, but then Max ended up taking a turn for the worse the last few nights. He has now again lost the use of his hind legs and is refusing to eat and drink water.
I have taken time off of work and have been sleeping with him downstairs in the living room trying to bring water to his mouth and feed him a little by little. He’s been getting regular sponge baths since he can’t move and is in too much pain to be moved, so he has been unable to properly relieve himself.
His MRI, surgery and aftercare will run over $13,000 and we need $7,000 as a deposit to schedule.
Max is not just a pet, he is my baby, my support. He has brought joy, comfort, and unconditional love. Seeing him in pain breaks my heart and has taken an emotional /physical toll on me. I am determined to do everything in my power to help him regain his mobility and live pain-free. He is only 7 years old and has a long life ahead of him.
Those who know me know I have issues asking for help, but I can’t do it on my own. I understand that times are hard for so many, but I have to
save Max. If you can donate anything at all, we would be truly grateful. And if you can share this post that would also be a big help.
Plz help save Max and thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Max, Dimitri & Anya
