Help puppy Max through amputation

I'm starting this after some friends have suggested it.
Max is a wonderful staffy x frenchie mix who is just under 4 months old. We adopted him 3 weeks ago from another family. We had yet to insure him as I was (stupidly) giving him time to make sure he settles in with us first.

Yesterday our boy was a little too boisterous in our garden and tumbled down a step. After some tears we managed to get him to the vets, who after a triage gave us some very scary options. Euthanasia, amputation, or a very expensive referral to a specialist.
We ended up opting for an in-house xray and to see where we were at after that. As he's just a baby, he needed general anesthetic to successfully take an xray of the arm. After an anxious wait we found out he did indeed have a nasty fracture in his humerus bone thats against the elbow joint. Our vet emailed a specialist orthopaedic vet and got a second opinion, which thankfully just suggested 4 weeks crate rest with an xray after to check it's healing correctly. The other option was a referral for specialist surgery to have a screw or plate put in, which for his age is not ideal and might not even work. To be honest we simply do not have thousands for the surgery, so this is our only option as we are NOT considering euthanasia, and amputation is our last option.
So we got some overnight medication and had another appointment booked for the morning for more meds. This first vet trip alone cost us £840.

We have had the next appointment and he is now on painkillers and sedatives (with biweekly checkup) which cost £80, then another £840 xray in 4 weeks to check its healing correctly. We have also ordered some home comforts for him (I.e brain games, blanket and chew toys etc) for his long stay in the crate.

This has been intensely stressful for us as owners over the last 24 hours.
We do not expect any help, but it would be so extremely appreciated. Thanks a bunch for reading
