As many of you may already know, the lovely Anna posted a photo of a cat in rough shape on one of the Hunter's lost animals pages asking if anyone recognised the kitty. Anna had been feeding him to gain his trust and wanted to ensure he received immediate vet care. As a cat rescuer myself, I arranged with Anna to collect the kitty when he returned for another feed and take him straight to the vet.

With 24 hours we discovered this distinguished gentle-cat was named Max, the vets left messages with the owners attached to his microchip and immediate vet care including long acting antibiotics were administered. Unfortunately the owners have not returned any of the many messages left but luckily for Max I, along with the support of Valley Cat Rescue Project, am ensuring this boy does not slip through the cracks and gets the new home and life he deserves.

The hard part - Max has been through the wars and it appears he has been dragged by a car causing the gravel rash type scarring along one side of his face and the breaking of many teeth. He is also still intact making him a target for many cat fights. And lastly what should be a stunning coat of white is significantly matted in many sensitive areas and stained from his time living rough.

Overall he will require a (most likely) full mouth extraction, desexing, vaccinations, eye examination, more ear cleaning, and sedated groom to allow his to live life like the true king he is. Given what he has been through I'm thoroughly amazed at how
sweet this boy is, letting me pick him up within 5 mins of knowing him. He has the softest meow that really shows his gentle nature and have grown a fondness for any cheese flavoured cat products too!

With initial vet work costing $180, and expected dental, desex / vax, blood work, additional consultations for his badly healed wounds and sore eyes and sedated grooming costing approx
$1500 (with rescue discount already factored in), we are reaching out to the community to ask for financial assistance with providing this abandoned boy the future he longs for.

Initial examinations show that Max does have a good prognosis for his senior years, so we know his treatment won't be in vain therefore your donations will make a huge impact!

And if you are interested in adopting this battle worn but ruggedly handsome devil (once his vet work is complete in the next few weeks) please reach out to Valley Cat Rescue Project via their Facebook page to register your interest. In situations like this it is ideal to transition him to a new home ASAP so, given what he has been through, we will be looking for the best fit rather than a first in best dressed situation.

Max will make an AMAZING companion as long as you're happy to provide cheesy treats and chin scratches
