Help Max recover and get a surgery

Hi, my name is Sofiya and I am raising funds to help my cat Max recover from a bladder block that affected his kidneys and to help fund his Perineal Urethrostomy surgery that will prevent the reoccurrence of any future bladder blockages that could potentially kill him.

Max has been our family pet for over 8 years and is a feisty and energetic, yet very affectionate cat. He has an amazing personality and we love him so much.

On the 8/11/2022 Max showed signs of being in major discomfort and I rushed him to the vets where they diagnosed him with the bladder blockage for the first time. On the day, they have treated him and he made a speedy recovery the same day. However, four months later on the 29/03/2023, Max appeared to have had a repeated incident with the blocked bladder, only this time his kidneys were affected and he had become seriously unwell. He was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and was becoming completely unresponsive. He didn’t eat and we all thought that we were going to lose him. In fact, the doctors told us that we may have to consider putting him down if he doesn’t improve. All the meanwhile, I realised that our insurance only covered us for up to £1000 per condition.

I couldn’t bare the thought of loosing him and decided to persevere nonetheless and give his recovery our best shot. I have put all of my rent money towards getting Max another two days of fluids, treatments and additional tests which, alas seem to have made an improvement. Now, three days into bringing him to the hospital for day admissions, he seems to be feeling better, he started to eat and will hopefully be discharged tomorrow. Our current total vet costs for this condition since its first occurrence is £1919.03 and we may accumulate more fees over the weekend if his recovery staggers.

Even if he does feel well enough tomorrow, we are not quite out of the woods yet. This condition can and most likely will keep reoccurring unless we can get Max the Perineal Urethrostomy surgery. We will need to book it asap before he relapses again. The surgery will be between £2500 and £3000 and can be done as early as in a few weeks when Max’s kidneys have recovered enough from the trauma of the last few days.

We have such a good chance of giving Max a few more years of happy life, but I do need your help with gathering fund for his surgery and with helping me recover the rent money I have had to spend on the vet bills in the last few days.

Even a small amount would go a long way! Thank you! Love to all of you.
