Hi, my name is Max, and I'm fundraising for entrance into a boarding school, called Indian Springs. I first learned about this school from the book, Looking for Alaska. Looking for Alaska is my favorite book of all time. John Green speaks about love and loss in a truly beautiful way. After loosing my momma in 2023, it was the first book that really spoke to me. I remember closing it, and thinking my mom forgives me. I already knew about John Green through Vlogbrothers and Crash Course, but in researching the book, I found out that he had attended school in Alabama, the same school his characters attend in the book, although the name is different. Just for fun, I decided to look into the school. I decided to apply on a whim, so you can imagine my shock when I received an early acceptance letter. I was ecstatic, since over the course of a month, I had fallen in love with the idea of attending boarding school and all the opportunities it offered.
My classes at DPA are honestly not challenging. One of the few things that made school bearable this year was my amazing teachers, who allowed me to finish my work, and then just read. My teachers have always been great, but one thing I do truly dislike about school here is watching teachers, who love what they teach, who genuinely care about their students, get burned out from the pure disrespect they face every day. Another huge reason I would like to attend Indian Springs is being around different children. I've met maybe 10 kids at DPA who have a single opinion on anything that they didn't get from their parents or social media. I would like to surround my self with kids who are mature and actually care about learning and education and the world around us. Most importantly, the opportunities this school offers are priceless. There are 18 AP classes, as well as many independent studies. This is very helpful in applying to colleges.
All this being said, school is extremely expensive. The cost for school is $54,000, but scholarship funds made it $8,100 yearly. Still, this is just not doable for my family. My dad has said that if I can raise half of that, $4,000 by April 14(2 days before enrollment is due), he will pay the other half. I know we're all short for money, but all I'm asking for is what you can spare. If that's $5, I'll be very grateful. If we are not able to reach the goal, then all money will be returned to those who paid. Thank you for time and consideration.
