My name is Max Archbold. I’m 21 years old, and I graduated from Fort Myers High School in 2021. I attend St. Xavier University and am a senior in my final semester. I also am on a partial baseball scholarship at the university as one of the catchers.
On January 1st, I was driving back home after being with some friends when I was unfortunately struck head-on by a drunk driver driving in the opposite direction. The driver was Zerik Zunin Zurita Blanco. I was rushed to Gulf Coast Trauma Center in Fort Myers for emergency surgery to save my life. When I arrived, I had 4 liters of blood in my stomach, just minutes from losing my life. They made a massive transfusion in the operating room. I had my intestines shredded as well as my colon. I also suffered a knee injury where I required surgery. It’s been 19 days since the surgery, and I’m still in the ICU.
Because of the injuries and required rehab, it is most likely that I will lose my final season of college baseball and have to finish school online. I’m reaching out for helping hands while I complete my rehab. Anything helps, even just prayers. Hopefully, this will be a good way to bring justice to this situation as the drunk driver is still a free man with no issues. The officer on the scene did not conduct any field tests and let the man go without any information.
Hopefully, this reaches the right public. Thank you and God bless.
