Hi everyone, this is really hard for me to write, but my sweet 16-year-old cat Max recently had a terrifying medical emergency. On Thursday afternoon, Max suddenly became extremely dizzy, collapsed, cried out in pain, and then vomited repeatedly and lost bowel control. I rushed him to the ER, where he was stabilized enough for me to bring him home. His discharge paperwork states that his episode may have been due to either a cardiac cause, like an arrhythmia, or a neurologic event, such as a small stroke. Unfortunately, they won’t know which until he gets follow-up bloodwork, chest X-rays, an abdominal ultrasound, and a cardiology appointment.
The emergency visit alone was already a lot, and these next diagnostics need to happen within the upcoming few weeks. I want to make sure Max gets every chance he deserves, but the cost all at once is overwhelming, especially with this happening around the holidays. As many of you know, Max is my whole world. Despite his age, he is still full of so much life and love. Seeing him suffer the way he did was one of the scariest moments of my life.
If you’re able to help, even just by sharing this, it means more than I can put into words. Thank you for helping me take care of my sweet boy.
