Max is my three-year-old female calico rescue cat who found her way into my life after becoming a stray in the neighborhood. She adopted me two years ago, and since then, we've formed a close bond. Max is an indoor-outdoor cat, full of personality—she even brings me her live prey through her cat door, including a rabbit once! Living alone, I've come to rely on our routines, and she sleeps next to me every night, offering comfort and companionship.
Last week, Max became very sick. She could barely eat, was in pain, and could hardly move. I did my best to care for her at home until I could get her to a vet, but I was shocked by how expensive veterinary care has become. I could only afford the most essential tests and had to borrow money to cover them. Max was diagnosed with FeLV, which is often terminal within a few years, but her current symptoms—abdominal pain and weakness—suggest something else, possibly a bowel obstruction. She now needs more tests and treatment, which could be very expensive.
Many people have suggested euthanasia, but we're not there yet—not without knowing what the real problem is. I want to keep Max alive and out of pain for as long as possible. The funds raised will go toward her current medical expenses, further tests to determine exactly what's wrong, and any treatments, medications, or hospital care she may need. Your prayers, well wishes, and donations are most gratefully welcome. Thank you for helping me give Max the best chance possible.
