Max is only one year old, but he has already become such an important part of our family. He is a Russian blue kitty, and my son—an only child—begged for years to have a kitten. When Max joined our family, the bond between them was instant. My son has experienced so much, especially as we are dealing with significant health issues and my own health challenges, including two hip replacements this year. Through it all, Max has been a saving grace, bringing joy and comfort to our home.

Before we knew the extent of Max’s illness, we lovingly called him our “smelly cat” (just like the song from Friends) because of his bad breath. It was only later that we discovered he was suffering from feline stomatitis, a very painful gum condition that can only be resolved with extensive dental surgery. The cost of the procedure is overwhelming for us, especially as we are already facing significant emotional and financial strain due to ongoing health issues. It would be devastating for my son to lose his best friend, and for me, Max is truly an emotional support during these difficult times.
