Hey there!!! My name's Max. I'm a 28 year old transgender nerd who is finally getting chest masculinization surgery (AKA top surgery)
I've wanted top surgery since I was 16. Now, at the age of 28 I am finally making it happen. Getting here has been a long time coming and I am so thankful for the loving and caring community I am surrounded with. When I didn't have support at home or from family it was my queer family and friends who stepped up and helped make sure I was safe and cared for. I have since been able to establish a wonderful future for myself but I have one last big financial hurdle before I can finally start recovery as myself.
As a lot of you know, the gym has been my life blood the last 5 years. It has helped me better myself and kick dysphoria's ass. I am so eager to start running, lifting, and sweating my ass off without having the restrictions of sports bras or binders ever present.
I am very fortunate to have insurance through my employment and have worked hard to get all my paperwork sorted so they will cover the surgery. That being said this one procedure will surpass the deductible and full out of pocket max for my insurance. I will be out of work for what will likely be 3-4 weeks and the out of pocket max is a lot of money even after saving for so long. This is why I am asking for help.
Thank you to everyone who has read this, to all the friends I know and love, all the acquaintances I have had pleasant conversations with and have kept good company and to all the strangers who care enough to share or even donate, what may feel like a small impact to you has made worlds of difference in my life and I cannot say again how thankful I am for everyone's kindness.
Every morning when I get dressed for work, I see the T-shirts that have been hanging in my closet that have gone unworn for years, waiting for the day I get top surgery. They have moved with me multiple times as I can't seem to part with them knowing one day, I will be able to wear them... and now I'll get to put them on soon enough. Cheers!
Official surgery date is going to be 4/27/26
