Max Needs Us: Fighting Kidney Failure at Just 3 Years Old

Hi, my name is Tahnee, and I’m asking for help for my dog, Max.

Max is only 3 years old, and he is truly one of the most loving, gentle souls I’ve ever known. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be close—always leaning into you, asking for pets, and following you from room to room just to be near you.

I’ve loved Max his entire life. I’ve had him since before he was even born—his mom is still here with us too. He has never been just a pet to me. He’s been part of my life from the very beginning, and our bond is something incredibly special.

Right now, he’s very sick.

Max has been diagnosed with severe kidney failure, and it has been sudden and overwhelming. Even though he doesn’t feel well, he’s still trying. He still gets up, still walks around, still eats when he can, and plays with his mom when he's feeling alright—but more than anything, he just wants to lay next to me and be touched. He seeks constant comfort, and it’s heartbreaking to see him not feel like himself.

I am doing everything I can to care for him at home. I give him subcutaneous fluids, manage his medications, and prepare a special kidney-friendly diet just to help him get through each day. I’m committed to fighting for him, but the cost of his care is quickly becoming more than I can handle on my own.

Max needs ongoing support to stay stable, including:

- Prescription kidney diet food

- Daily medications

- Subcutaneous fluids and medical supplies

- Follow-up vet visits and lab work

He is not just my dog—he is my family, my comfort, and my constant companion. Anyone who has met him knows how special he is.
