Help Max Fight Cancer During This Holiday Season

Donation protected
If you want to help someone this holiday season, this is your opportunity. I hope you will join me in helping Max. He deserves a little help right now.

Max Byer is a young guy I met on Twitter who loves Real Estate and Technology. He could use a little help from the Twitter community today.

Max is currently fighting stage 4 cancer. The doctors are optimistic that he will make it through this battle, but not without some long-term side effects.

I've never set up a GoFundMe before, but after a Facetime call with Max a few minutes ago I felt the need to do this. He was Facetiming me from the hospital where he was getting treatment.

Max has a great attitude and plans on making it through this challenging journey. When I asked him what he was looking forward to most, he told me he couldn't wait to start working again. He is excited about his future real estate career.

Please join me in helping Max this holiday season.

My name is Mark Jenney. I set up this campaign for Max and donated the first $1,000.

Any size donation you can make is much appreciated. All the money will go to Max.

$1, $10, $100, $1,000, any amount. It doesn't matter how much you give. Just the act of giving something means a lot.

Please share this campaign and post a message of encouragement here for Max. Even if you can't give any money, kind words of encouragement are free to give. I'm sure your words will help brighten Max's day : )

Max doesn't yet know I set this campaign up for him. This will be a complete surprise.

Here is a post that Max made on his Facebook page yesterday:

I have Stage 4 Metastatic Rectal Cancer and have been fighting since July. My doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering are optimistic, but the fight is tough and long, and the outcome is uncertain. I’ve only shared the details of this battle with a small group until today, but the difficulty and uncertainty of the fight makes it time to share it with everyone.

Here’s the facts. The tumor is very aggressive. The cancer quickly spread to the liver and lymphnodes. 12 weeks of chemotherapy was working, until the cancer grew resistant and spread into the prostate. I’ve recently started radiation with surgeries to come.

My medical team expects future surgery to be curative. Their goal and hope is a full recovery and return to normal life. To do so, surgeons will be removing four pelvic organs in a 10+ hour surgery that has a very long, painful recovery. I now have a permanent ostomy and will likely need 2 implants to artificially return certain body functions. The reality is devastating, but the rewards of beating cancer and continuing life makes it so well worth it.

I am endlessly grateful to be alive and for the love, patience, and generosity of everyone during what looks to be a three year-long fight. This fight has taken an indescribable toll, but fighting is made easier with the help of loved ones, and now, a supportive wider social circle.

I’d love to hear from you. Please reach out here or at (***I blocked his phone number for privacy***) to just say hey, or to talk about how you can help in a direct, meaningful way to make this fight easier.

Cancer, especially of this degree, changes one fundamentally. I am devastated and terrified about these bodily changes, but I’m getting ready to tackle the challenges ahead when I can get back to real life.

We’ll win this fight together!
