Help Max Fight Leukemia
Your son has cancer...
Max was diagnosed with cancer (B Cell ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) at 18 months old, I found myself completely blindsided, not only by his diagnosis, but also about how little information I knew about childhood cancer. I thought I had been reborn the day I gave birth to Max, when I heard him crying and the nurses placed him right on my chest I felt elated, I felt renewed. Max became my world and I was there to protect him from everything I could…cancer did not cross mind.
I had taken Max that evening to get some blood work due to some bruising and bleeding. We had just returned home when my phone rang.. when I heard “Your son has cancer”...I don’t think I could ever describe the pain, the fear, and the feelings of that moment but it all hurt, a lot!
I know in my heart that even though he is little, and he doesn’t fully understands what he is going through, he feels every poke, every transfusion and infusion, every port access, every lumbar puncture, every chemotherapy treatment, the list goes on...Max is stronger than he knows, and our faith will carry us through all the difficult things we must face during and after treatment.
When someone you love has cancer, hearing those words will tear you apart, and the pain and fear will absolutely seep in through your body, mind and soul; and yet, we get up every day and are thankful for this chance to fight.
We are creating this GoFundMe for those asking how they can help. You can help offset the medical costs we are facing, and Max’s therapies. More than any monetary amount, we already appreciate the amount of love and prayers and we are forever thankful!
With love,
Ivonne & Max
