Help Max Afford Grad School Life

Hi everyone,

My name is McKenzie, better known as Max, and I am an incoming graduate student in Drexel University’s Creative Art Therapy program. I am nineteen years old— I started undergraduate when I was sixteen— and, while my fiancée stays in TN working, I and my family made the decision for me to live in university affiliated housing. I took out enough in student loans to help me pay both my rent and my tuition for this first year (until August 1st, 2025) but have been hit with a ton of fees, and, to make it even better, have been put on a leave of absence by my job due to an unrelated ankle injury, meaning I have been out of work for the past month. This has meant that I have already dipped into my savings, and I am now in a very difficult financial position where affording my rent, as well as my food and other necessities, is not possible. I have included images of my rental installments, tuition, and my refund for this quarter (September-December) of university. I will be receiving the same amount of refund for the remaining quarters of this year.

Any help is so appreciated. I am just trying to pursue my dreams of helping others.

UPDATE 11/4/24:

My job continued to give me reduced hours and I ended up paying more for transport than I was earning, and I have submitted my two weeks notice as a result. I am actively looking for new employment, contingent on my class and internship schedules. Until I am able to find new employment, I am in desperate need of support.
