Help Maverick Beat Cancer & Live His Best Life

Donation protected
A few weeks after his first birthday, Maverick was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma. We first noticed when we saw a small bump on his front leg in early January. After half a dozen trips to the vet , two xrays, a blood test, a urinalysis and two biopsies, Maverick's vet was able to diagnose and remove most of the tumor. However the aggressive nature and very inconvenient position of the cancer (surrounding his elbow) has led us to make the difficult decision to amputate his leg.

Maverick has been the sweetest and craziest puppy we've ever known since Michael and I adopted him from Austin Pets Alive shelter last May. He loves meeting other dogs around the city and always wants to play. He counter surfs, chews up our shoes, tore our carpet off the floor and has a special knack for ripping up toilet paper. Over the past month he has been in recovery on and off and when he starts to be mischievous again it just makes us happy to see that he is still feeling like himself.

This gofundme is to help us raise enough money for his next procedures (March 2025) where he will get his leg removed and receive radiation in order to prevent the cancer from recurring and spreading to his lungs. We have already spent about $3000 to get him to this point and we are seeking any help we can to try and kick the cancer for good. We would be so appreciative of any donation or if you share this page with any other dog lovers in your lives ❤️ We are so grateful for your love and support while we get through this! To get to know Maverick and his story a little better you can follow him on instagram @maverickofatx.

2/13/25 Update: Oh my goodness! We are so close to our goal! Michael and I are so overwhelmed with all of the love we have received in such a small amount of time. Maverick is the luckiest puppy to have so many people rooting for him and we are so endlessly grateful for all of you.
Any excess funding raised that Maverick won't be needing will be donated to Austin Pets Alive, the amazing shelter he was adopted from. They helped him beat Parvovirus before we adopted him and they are doing amazing things for other doggos! You can also donate to them directly here: APA
Thank you again for being wonderful and generous humans!
