HELP Mauritius BEAT Covid19 : Anou aide nou Moris!

Donation protected
Fellow Mauritian Diaspora and friends,

To fight Covid19 in Mauritius, we aim to PROTECT our front line Health Care professionals (DOCTORS, NURSES, etc) and other front line professionals (such as the police force, the key food supply workers) by supplying them with as much PPE (Protective Personal Equipment) e.g. surgical masks, face shields, goggles, overalls, etc as we can source and/or enable production, from anywhere in the world, including Mauritius.
Any surplus masks will be donated to the general population to lower contagion.
This is the only way to bring a semblance of normalcy on the Motherland as soon as possible.

Why this action?

If healthcare professionals get infected, this is bad for them, but also have a compounding effect - because they can become infection vectors to a large number of other people. In addition, every healthcare professional is essential right now - any reduction in staff availability will mean fewer people receive the urgent treatment they need. Healthcare systems from Italy to now increasingly the US are being stretched. (We have all seen the pictures from Italian healthcare workers - we need to act NOW to reduce the probability of that kind of situation in Mauritius.

Masks will also become a key way in which life looks more normal again. Examples of Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea show masks worn do reduce risk of infection, so as the shutdown lifts, masks will be one of the ways of controlling the risk.

Everybody knows everybody in Mauritius, family and friends, so we are all concerned. It is simply a unique place in the world and especially for us. Nou tizil sa!

We need your help right NOW!

All monies raised will be directed to buying and delivering or enabling production of, the PPE to healthcare professionals in Mauritius and if there is any excess giving away to other members of the population.

How monies raised will be used:

1. We have already looked into multiple sourcing options from China (the situation is evolving fast) and logistics of delivery (this option seems to be available only at order of the magnitude of $100k). At this point, we are not ordering directly from China. That may change depending on amount raised.

2. Donating money, materials for local production of PPE or PPE to local organizations such as Morisyen San Frontyer, a Mauritius-based NGO, doing a lot of work on the group related to Covid. We will be looking to make the first donation during the week of 14 April 2020 to Morisyen San Frontyer, most likely of isolation gowns and/or face shields with the help of innovative local companies such as CMT and ENL  and/or monies raised and/or with other PPE.

3. Donating PPE to government workers directly or through government channels, as be needed.

Time is of the essence.

Glory to thee, Motherland
O Motherland of mine.
Sweet is thy beauty,
Sweet is thy fragrance,
Around thee we gather
As one people,
As one nation,
In peace, justice and liberty.
Beloved Country,
May God bless thee
For ever and ever.

Keep well and healthy!
