Hi all I’m Maureen (Mar) and I broke my left wrist while rollerblading with my dog. I have medi-cal but getting medical attention after my initial ER visit has been extremely difficult/ next to impossible. I have spent over 3 hours a day for the last week and much more time the week before that trying to sort it out and keep hitting road block after road block. (Processing one thing takes 72 business hours etc. Changes that should take only 1-2 days are taking 3-4 weeks)

Currently I am supposed to be starting physical therapy this week 6/3–6/7 but instead I have spent the entire week on the phone trying to figure out why I can’t get coverage until the end of the month.

As many of you know, I am a musician and a singer-songwriter and have been playing guitar for 18 years now. I need my left fingers, hand and wrist all to be able to play guitar. Right now my nerves, joints, muscles, bone and tissue are all healing from surgery that I got in order to stabilize my bone while it heals from the break.

I need physical therapy asap to get my fingers working again (before my arm heals without these specific exercises and movements—So I can grab things, pick things up, dress myself with two hands again, eventually play guitar again…and the list goes on) I do not want to lose the use of my left hand and wrist —and this healing period of the next few weeks is crucial.

Currently I am still struggling to make a fist and still cannot drive or dress myself with both hands.

For all of these reasons I have decided to humbly ask my community to donate anything at all possible (literally even if it’s the lowest amount possible) in order to aid me in getting physical therapy over the next three weeks while I wait for insurance to finally kick in.

I did the math of my 3x a week doctor prescribed sessions and one month would be $1600. I have also been out of work for a month and I have multiple bills that I have been delaying to pay. For that reason I have made my goal to $2500 to cover those as well.

Once I am able to schedule an appt with a physical therapist under my insurance I will be stopping this campaign immediately.
