This past December, traditionally a time of joy, Maureen, her husband Robert, and their two daughters received the devastating news that no young family should ever receive – Maureen was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Maureen has dedicated her life to helping others. She has worked at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Chicago for the last 20 years, beginning as a nursing assistant while attending nursing school, and then as a nurse for many years now. She has created strong friendships and connections throughout the hospital and touched the lives of numerous patients. She has also spent the last 5 years as a home health nurse where she developed incredible bonds with her homebound patients.

She always greets everyone with an infectious smile and positive energy. Maureen exudes warmth and love to everyone she meets. While Maureen has spent her life caring for others, she is now the one in need of help and support.

Besides the overwhelming emotional strain facing Maureen, Robert, and their family, they will also be enduring significant medical and care expenses as Maureen fights her way through this challenge. Maureen holds the family’s health insurance and Robert is self-employed. We are asking for your generosity to help ease this burden on Maureen and her family. Este pasado mes de diciembre, tradicionalmente una época de alegría, Maureen, su esposo Robert y sus dos hijas recibieron una noticia devastadora que ninguna familia joven debería tener que enfrentar: a Maureen le diagnosticaron cáncer cerebral en etapa 4.

Además de ser una esposa y madre dedicada, Maureen ha entregado su vida a ayudar a los demás. Ha trabajado en el Hospital Shriner’s para Niños en Chicago durante los últimos 20 años, comenzando como asistente de enfermería mientras asistía a la escuela de enfermería, y luego como enfermera durante muchos años. Además de la abrumadora carga emocional que enfrentan Maureen, Robert y su familia, también deberán afrontar importantes gastos médicos y de cuidado mientras Maureen lucha contra este desafío.
