Help Maureen Through her Liver Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kristina and I created this for my friend, Maureen Armijo-Salazar. Maureen went into liver failure in October 2021 due to many factors of illness. In February 2022 she learned that she needs a liver transplant and it has been extremely stressful for her and her family. She is only 35 years old. Maureen took me in like family when I moved to our small town 4 years ago. She is truly a wonderful and genuine person. She has a heart made of gold, and always cares for others.
Here is Maureen's story: Born and raised in Northern New Mexico in March 1987, attended and graduated from Peñasco High School May 2005. Pursued Masters degree in Civil Engineering which was a success in 2011. She lost both of her parents at a young age of 18 and 19. She then took on the role of parent and chose to raise her younger brother and sister as her own. She moved to Red Cliff, CO in 2011 where she met her now husband, Chris Salazar, Red Cliff local born and raised. Maureen is the kind of person that gives and never asks for anything in return, she cares for all her nieces and nephews as they were own. She will open her doors and heart to anyone who needs it. Outdoors is where she thrives the most, fishing, hunting, hiking, outdoor activities any time of the year. She has had many trials and tribulations throughout her life, but despite the odds she has remained positive and made it through. We all hope she will also make it through this.
Maureen has since been added to the organ transplant wait list and in the course of the next few months her and her husband will have to travel to and from Denver for regular appointments. that are becoming more frequent these days due to her MELD (Model for End Stage Liver Disease) scores. They are currently at a very high number which leaves little time to find a viable donor. She is continuing to do her part to stay as healthy and active as possible to go in strong for this procedure. During the procedure and recovery time her husband will have take a leave of absence from work to be there to support his wife, Maureen.
This GoFundMe is to help them pay their bills, afford medications, and afford travel expenses, as well as temporary relocation for Chris. Her entire family and friends, as well as Maureen & Chris Salazar ask that you help if you could, keep them in your prayers and please share as much as possible. Any amount is appreciated.
