Hi! My name is Matvii and I’m a 4th grade student at Mohr Elementary School in California.

This year, with the help of my friends, teachers, and community members, I started collecting children's books to send to Ukraine. Because of the war, many libraries and schools there lost their books, and many children no longer have the same access to stories and learning materials.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of local Friends of the Library organizations, families, and volunteers, we have already collected hundreds of children's books. Now we have many boxes filled with wonderful stories and learning books that we hope will bring comfort, hope, and knowledge to children in Ukraine.

So far, 5,000 books have been collected. That's equivalent to 25 boxes, each weighing 60 lb (30 kg).

Now we need help with the next step — shipping the books to Ukraine.

Sending many boxes overseas is expensive, and we are raising funds to cover the shipping costs so these books can reach the children who are waiting for them.

I believe that books can do something very special — they can help children learn, imagine, and feel hope even during difficult times.

I hope these books will bring joy, comfort, and inspiration to children in Ukraine.
