Help me get a new pair of hearing aids
Donation protected
Hey y'all, my name is Matthew Hawks (or Matty or Matt). As many of those close to me know, I have severe-to-profound deafness in both ears and rely on hearing aids to get through my daily life.
Unfortunately, hearing aids aren't covered by most insurance companies: especially not for my level of loss. This is why I'm asking for help from outside sources. The new pair of hearing aids that I need are $7000 before tax, and this is a purchase that I need to make every 5 years on average as hearing aids deteriorate and the quality of sound decreases.
My current pair of hearing aids are 6 years old and on their last legs. Due to them not working well, I have to focus even harder on what people are saying (especially in louder environments), ask people to repeat themselves more, and struggle harder to be a part of every conversation that I'm a part of.
At a recent audiology appointment, I had the chance to try on a new pair of hearing aids. Now let me tell you: that was a game-changing moment for me. I could hear so much better. I could hear and understand my partner without looking at her, I could hear my doctor from a distance I couldn't hear anyone from before.
I'm asking for the amount for the hearing aids, taxes, and for help with accessories that I might need with the new devices. These hearing aids would be a huge help for my day-to-day life in many ways. Any donations are appreciated.
Thank you,
Matty
