Help Matt's Fight With Glioblastoma

Hi, my name is Christina and I am helping to raise funds for Matt and his family. On July 22, 2022 Matt started to feel a little tired while at work, more so than usual, but they thought nothing too much of it. In the early hours of Sunday morning Matt began puking and was completely exhausted the rest of the day. Both assuming that he was possibly sick they let him rest to try to heal up. By Tuesday he was unable to keep his eyes open and was falling asleep at work. Matt's coworker took him to the ER where they ran a covid test and blood work, the doctor told Matt he probably had a GI bug. His blood pressure was high, but this runs in the family and so it was pushed off to a primary care doctor. That night Matt began to act even more strange. He would try to read a book to his son but was unable to read the words and would just stare blankly at the pages, if his wife asked him any questions it would take him minutes to answer. Wednesday morning Stephanie took Matt to a doctor at CHC, while waiting Matt was unable to stay awake. They did a second covid test and more extensive blood work (even checked for mono) a sleep study was discussed and possible sleep apnea as a potential diagnosis along with blood pressure meds being ordered in order to lower his BP. That evening Matt began puking excessively after taking his blood pressure meds. Stephanie rushed him to another ER. Unfortunately this doctor was not friendly and made sure to let them know that their situation was not an emergency and they left again with no answers. The next morning Stephanie took Matt to yet another ER in hopes someone would listen to her and find what was wrong with her husband. This hospital ran more tests in search of an answer. A brain scan showed that there was a tumor on his brain. He was sent for an MRI and then was transported via ambulance to the same hospital they had visited the night prior. The neurologist reviewed the MRI and informed Matt and Stephanie that this was serious and sent them to San Francisco. It was in San Francisco that the doctors had a more extensive MRI done which led them to believe this was a Stage 4 Glioblastoma that was on both cerebral hemispheres on the frontal lobe. Matt was immediately scheduled for surgery. The surgeon was able to remove as much of the tumor on the right side as possible but was unable to reach the left side. Another MRI was done which showed that the left side was growing at a drastic rate. The doctors are rushing Matt into radiation and chemo treatment as soon as his scars on his head have healed. The pathologist was able to confirm that this is a grade 4 Gliosarcoma since it also has sarcoma tendencies. As most of you know Matt is a husband to Stephanie and a father to their twins who are two years old. Matt also has his third baby on the way as Stephanie is in the first timester. His family has always and will always come first. His friends and family know him as a kind, caring, generous soul and for always having a good sense of humor. He would go out of his way for a friend without blinking an eye. Anyone who knows Matt is proud to be called his friend. Matt and his family would be grateful for any support to subsidize their medical bills and other living expenses during his fight. They will be traveling back and forth from San Francisco and San Luis Obispo as his tumor is so aggresive they can only receive treatments in San Francisco at this time. We are praying for more time, time for Matt to meet his unborn baby. More time to see his twins grow and learn. More time to kiss and hug his wife. Thank you for your support.
