Matt and I grew up together in the small town of Rossville, sharing childhood memories and later joining the Marine Corps side by side after finishing school. While our paths in the service took us in different directions, Matt’s resilience always stood out. Even after a motorcycle accident during his last year in the Marines left him without the use of one arm, he never let it slow him down. He built a wonderful life, marrying an amazing woman and raising five incredible kids—four boys and one girl.

Last night, their family faced a devastating setback when heavy rain caused their house to flood. The entire basement, which is home to three of the boys’ bedrooms, was submerged. The damage is extensive, and many of their belongings have been lost. It’s heartbreaking to see such a caring and hardworking family go through something like this.

I’m starting this fundraiser to help Matt and his family repair the damage and replace what was lost. They are the kind of people who would do anything for anyone, and now they need a helping hand.
